September – Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
A worldwide campaign was started in September 2012 to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s, and this movement has continued since.
According to the Alzheimer’s Society, there are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will rise to 2 million by 2051. It is believed that 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes!!

We hope this month will have encouraged people to read about Alzheimer’s and dementia, and perhaps to reach out to someone they know who is suffering, whether it be assisting in making their surroundings dementia friendly, reminiscing or sharing a cup of tea. Often, it is the little things that mean the most.
